Abu Dhabi Polytechnic Students Secure Second Place at the PetroCup World Student Olympics: Middle East Gulf League
Abu Dhabi Polytechnic students proudly achieved second place at the PetroCup World Student Olympics: Middle East Gulf League, held from September 16 to 17, 2024. This prestigious competition brought together top universities from the UAE, Iran, and Oman, showcasing participants’ expertise in various aspects of petroleum engineering. The event emphasized critical areas such as technical problem-solving, analytical skills, and teamwork, fostering a collaborative environment for students to apply their knowledge in a competitive setting.
The competition enabled participants to demonstrate their skills across essential disciplines within petroleum engineering, including:
- Technical problem-solving in drilling and well control
- Analytical strategies in production engineering
- Optimization techniques for reservoir management
- Formation evaluation and petrophysical data interpretation
- Well intervention and performance enhancement strategies
The Abu Dhabi Polytechnic team excelled in their roles, achieving success through a well-coordinated effort. Each member’s specialized expertise contributed to the team’s remarkable performance:
- Ahmad Abdulla Almahrouqi: Led efforts in advanced drilling and well control, ensuring accurate and efficient solutions under time constraints.
- Abdalla Salem Alqaydi: Strategized approaches for production engineering challenges, offering innovative solutions and maintaining team cohesion.
- Amal Zaid Aldhuhoori: Excelled in reservoir management, applying analytical skills to optimize resource estimation and production strategies.
- Maitha Abdulla Almarzooqi: Specialized in formation evaluation, interpreting petrophysical data to support informed decision-making and enhance team performance.
- Alyazia Ali Alhammadi: Focused on well intervention, assisting with solutions to performance issues and ensuring safe operational practices. With the top three teams advancing to the Finals, ADPoly’s team has earned a place to compete for the N.N.N. Cup from December 2-4, 2024, representing the UAE in this international event.
