Dr. Nikolaos joined Abu Dhabi Polytechnic as Assistant Professor of Physics & Mathematics in May 2024. He received his Ph.D. in 1995 from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Denmark, in mathematical modelling of superconductors and superconducting devices and circuits. He has long teaching and research experience in physics and applied mathematics.
His research interests lie primarily in the areas of classical and quantum complex systems in condensed matter physics and plasma physics. He is particularly interested in the theoretical understanding through analytical techniques and numerical approaches of their linear/nonlinear dynamical properties, with emphasis on predicting and identifying novel collective behaviours that could be exploited in future applications.
Prior to joining Abu Dhabi Polytechnic, he held positions in Khalifa University of Science and Technology, UAE, University of Crete, Greece, Institute of Electronic Structure & Laser – FORTH, and Technological Educational Institute of Crete, Greece, among others. He has been visiting researcher in the Russian Federation, the Republic of Khazakstan, and elsewhere, while he has been invited to several major conferences and meetings.
He has made contributions in the fields of superconductivity and Josephson junctions, metamaterials (including superconducting and quantum ones), and recently plasma physics, which were published in top scientific journals. Full details of his scientific publications can be found at: https://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.uri?authorId=6701852373.
