Electrical Engineering Technology

Electrical Engineering is a discipline of engineering concerned with the utilization, transformation and applications of electricity encompassing power generation, microelectronics, control systems, programming of sensors and actuators, signal processing and communication. An Electrical Engineer is expected to work in a wide range of areas from micro Integrated Circuits (ICs) to massive power generators.

The demand for Electrical Engineers has never been higher since electrical engineering is considered to be among the primary forces behind the rapid development and modernization of the local industrial sector which is pivotal to the progress of UAE’s economy.

The Electro-Mechanical Systems Engineering Technology Program at ADPoly has been developed keeping in mind the needs of the industry and modern times. Industry requires a solid background in science and mathematics and sufficient courses to lay a strong foundation in these fields have been included as part of the study plan. In addition to that, due to the enormous need of Electrical engineers related to the Power sector, the electrical plan is oriented towards the power generation and transmission field. However, students must also take courses in control systems, motor drives, signal processing and communications. The student has an opportunity to register in two Technical Electives in a field of his own interest and requirement. The student can choose the elective subject to be an advanced topic in power systems, signal processing or control systems.

Besides providing the necessary knowledge to inculcate electrical engineering concepts, at ADPoly, the students are also imparted hands-on knowledge of different types of electrical devices and applications. This may range from building a simple bread board circuit to designing a transmission line for power distribution. Each course consists of a lab component which provides students with an excellent opportunity to observe the practical implementation of concepts learned in the lectures. Under the electrical engineering program, there is a special emphasis on practical work and experiments are designed to model practical industrial scenarios.

Electro-Mechanical Systems Engineering Technology graduate with an Electrical Engineering Technology specialization from ADPoly is well equipped to meet the increasingly demanding industry requirements and compete at the highest level of aptitude and knowledge. The 142 credit hours applied bachelors program prepares the student with the necessary conceptual and practical knowledge to face any type of challenge in his professional life. Addionally, program will be equipped with basic knowledge and skills theoretically and practically in Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a minor.
