Description
This course covers concepts for organizing, querying and managing databases; database design and the use of database management systems. It covers the characteristics of Entity Relationship Model, and the relational data model, functions of relational database management system (RDBMS), process of normalization, entity-relationship modeling and Structure Query Language (SQL), limit and sort results, use of SQL functions, use group by functions, user different types of joins, and writes subqueries. The course covers the data manipulation language of SQL and how to create simple tables with different data type and constraints. Additional topics include fundamentals of database architecture, data warehousing, data quality and integration. Lecture: 2 hrs/week; Lab: 2 hrs/week.
