Meteorology
ADPoly Meteorology Department is designed to educate high performing national and international students to provide meteorological services using advanced technologies. In 2014, Abu Dhabi Polytechnic and the National Center of Meteorology collaborated to build an educational infrastructure with the objective of developing skilled manpower in the field of Meteorological services for the United Arab Emirates. ADPoly Meteorology Program provide a balanced delivery of knowledge and skills through its unique curriculum with a dual system of education and training. Graduates are equipped to undertake employment in Aviation, Marine, Military, Energy and Water resources industries. In addition, the program motivates its students to pursue higher studies in Atmospheric sciences.

In 2014, Abu Dhabi Polytechnic and the National Centre for Meteorology collaborated to develop the educational infrastructure with an objective to develop skilled manpower in the field of Meteorological services for the United Arab Emirates. The Meteorology program educates high performing national students in order to qualify for the meteorological services. The program endeavors to provide a balance delivery of knowledge and skill through its unique curriculum with a dual system of Education and Training. The students receive a Bachelor Degree in Meteorology and also valuable training in various meteorological fields like weather forecasting, numerical weather analysis, climatology and marine meteorology.
The Meteorology graduates are equipped to undertake employment in Aviation, Marine, Military, Energy and Water resources industries. In addition, the program motivates its students to pursue higher studies in Atmospheric sciences.

Curriculum and Study Plan
The curriculum is aligned with the national and international standards and delivered jointly by academic experts and professional trainers from the meteorology sector. It is designed to produce graduates who will be competent and competitive in the modern world of science and technology. Due to the “applied” nature of meteorology the program took into consideration the specific needs of the meteorology sector as well as principles of successful learning path. The curriculum structure is as follows:
Intended to build up on basic learning, aptitudes, and capacities required for expert practice or graduate examination, the curricular structure of the program prepares our graduates to succeed in the rapidly developing world of technology and globalization. All students take core fundamental science and math courses mainly in the first two years, and meteorology specialized courses as juniors and seniors in the 3rd and 4th years of their studies. The semester-wise study plan is as follows:-

Bachelor of Science Program Educational Objectives
- MET PEO1: Provide a broad-based curriculum in Meteorology Program that generates graduates having competency in weather observations, meteorological instruments, coding/decoding meteorological reports, weather charts plotting and analyses, weather forecasting techniques, numerical weather analyses, climate data management, numerical weather modeling, climate monitoring and prediction, air quality, atmospheric sciences studies and related fields.
- MET PEO2: Provide students with laboratory and on-the-job training and practice experiences associated with each of the competency areas outlined in Objective MET PEO1.
- MET PEO3: Provide students with teamwork and leadership experiences while demonstrating effective communication skills and knowledge of related contemporary issues.
- MET PEO4: Provide students with an understanding of professional and ethical responsibility and the ability to engage in, life-long learning.
- MET PEO5: Provide students with the necessary education solving problems in the atmospheric sciences and related disciplines, through service in business or as educators, researchers, and leaders in academia, government, the private sector, and civil society.

- SO1 – An ability to identify, formulate, and solve broadly defined technical or scientific problems by applying knowledge of mathematics and science and/or technical topics to areas relevant to the discipline.
- SO2 – An ability to formulate or design a system, process, procedure or program to meet desired needs.
- SO3 – An ability to develop and conduct experiments or test hypotheses, analyze and interpret data and use scientific judgment to draw conclusions.
- SO4 – An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
- SO5 – An ability to understand ethical and professional responsibilities and the impact of technical and/or scientific solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
- SO6 – An ability to function effectively on teams that establish goals, plan tasks, meet deadlines, and analyze risk and uncertainty.
