Description
This course covers introduction to long range forecasts, the use of El Nino/La Nina oscillations used in seasonal forecasts, the Southern Pacific Oscillation impacts, sea-surface temperature anomalies, the use of Arctic and North Atlantic oscillations for seasonal forecasts, Rossby waves effects, intra- seasonal weather analysis for tropics, inter-tropical convergence zone effects, seasonal forecasts validation. Lecture: 3 hrs, Tutorial: 0 hrs, Lab: 0 hrs.
