Welcome to our Petroleum Engineering Technology (PET) Program at Abu Dhabi Polytechnic, Institute of Applied Technology. The department was established in 2013 and it offers a bachelor’s degree of applied engineering in two main concentrations: Petroleum Engineering Technology (PET) and Chemical Engineering Technology (ChET). Also, under PET concentration, we are offering a minor of Oil & Gas Processing. All degrees offered at our department are accredited nationally by the Commission of Academic Accreditation (CAA), Ministry of Education and internationally by the American Board of Engineering Technology (ABET). PET department, in close collaboration with other departments in Abu Dhabi Polytechnic and industrial partners, strives to provide students with innovative teaching and learning environment and cutting-edge infrastructure from labs and workshops to assure quality in petroleum and chemical engineering education. The department encourages students and faculty members and equips them with services and skills to enable them contribute effectively to the advancement of knowledge and innovative practice of engineering technology.

Empowering our graduates to be the future leaders in the Oil and Gas industry is a priority at the petroleum and chemical engineering majors. Therefore, Abu Dhabi Polytechnic invested in State-of-the-art infrastructure and laboratories such as the industrial process plant and advanced simulation laboratories to expose our students to industry scale experience and prepare them for challenging market jobs and skills. PET department is responding to the paradigm shift in education to integrating sustainability and recent trend in energy transformation. Topics related to Decarbonization, Carbon Capture and Storage, Climate Change and Risk Management, Pollution Prevention and Waste Management, Clean Energy Production, as well as Renewable and Sustainable Energy have been integrated to the curriculum, research, and graduation projects at the department. Additionally, set of skills related to sustainability and decarbonization also have been incorporated to our curriculum, students’ activities, and professional certification.

The department puts the digital transformation as a priority to equip our graduates with cutting-edge digital technology and applications in oil and gas industry, like geo-steering tools for directional drilling such as StarSteer, Kappa Workstation, KAPPA Rubis, and Saphir for well testing, and many other digital tools.

The graduates of the petroleum engineering and chemical engineering technology program of Abu Dhabi Polytechnic are in high demand in the market and this fact is reflected in the high employment rate that reaches 87% in the local market. Our graduates are ready to hit the ground as ready engineers as Abu Dhabi Polytechnic makes sure that our graduates are equipped with knowledge, skills and professional certification that enable them to excel of their peers in the field.
