Description This course introduces the student to the terminology and techniques used in oil and gas industry from chemical engineering point of view. Moreover, it provides an overview of the oil and gas industry, including the chemical nature and characteristics of hydrocarbons, their sources, and the three industry sectors. Students will learn about separators, chemical reactors, rock and fluid properties, and midstream and downstream unit operations. The course will cover surface treatment and storage of oil and gas, API standards, refinery processes, and the role of chemical engineers in the industry. Lecture 3 hrs/wk.
