Description This course intends to introduce students to the basic principles of process engineering and provide solution of elementary problems by application of mass balances, energy balances, and equilibrium relationships. Students will learn the fundamentals of process engineering, including process engineering nomenclature, systems of units and dimensions, process variables, and basic unit operations. In addition, students will learn how to solve process engineering problems systematically, identify variables, draw process flow charts, perform degrees of freedom analysis, and formulate mathematical expressions. The course will provide practical skills for students to apply in their future careers in process engineering. Lecture 2 hrs/wk.
