Education is a powerful thing. It can shape the mind like freshly mixed clay and can alter one’s perspective on life and how to live it. Abu Dhabi Polytechnic, or ADPoly, takes great pride in the ability to extend superior education for students and faculty alike. The school is part of Abu Dhabi University and grants licenses to students who wish to pursue short programs and degrees in applied sciences.
Part of the school’s teachings extends to what constitutes legal documents. One such document is called a a legal agreement for informants and is reserved specifically for crime investigations.
According to The Confidential Informant Agreement Form Explained, this type of form is used when police officers need to compromise confidential information from potential witnesses.
“Confidential informants are typically those who have committed crimes in the past or are currently involved in a criminal enterprise but agree to provide information to the police in exchange for favorable legal treatment,” explain the authors behind the article. The article proposes that the agreement be submitted to a privacy officer, who will record the form within the confidential informant tracking system, and that police officers take the appropriate steps to ensure that the confidential informant is protected. Confidential informant agreement forms tend to require in-depth information surrounding the crime the officer is currently investigating, the details of the confidential informant, and who the approval authority is and why. But how is this relevant for polytechnic students and staff? Well, occasionally law enforcement agencies will enter educational institutions to interview and investigate potential criminal activity. Because safety is always the number one priority for not only these institutions but regarding any place of business or government entity, education on what those protocols are and how to implement them is vital. As a student or staff member, know that which type of documents are required for criminal investigations, who to contact and what information you may need to provide to facilitate a secure environment.
